The ‘Maxima’ plan is India’s first 360 degree health insurance plan that offers cover to both inpatient as well as outpatient treatment. The coverage to OPD expenses is an exclusive feature of this plan. It helps an insured to get treatment even for small illnesses, like cough and cold. With regard to OPD coverage, one gets consultation coupons that can used to seek advice from medical experts within specified network of hospitals. There are coupons for coverage to pharmacy costs, diagnostic tests, up to certain limit.
The coverage limits of this plan also include coverage for dental treatment availed by policy holder from the network dental clinics. This treatment should have nothing to do with cosmetic treatment. One can also seek benefit for expenses incurred towards spectacles, contact lenses, etc, subject to the condition that they have been prescribed by medical practitioner in network hospitals. In addition to these consultation coupons, there are entitlement certificate for annual health check-up of an insured. If an insured seeks any of these benefits in non-network hospitals, he or she can get the reimbursement for the same, subject to the condition that the coupon or entitlement certificate has to be returned. There is a fixed limit of the amount to be paid in these cases.
Like other health insurance plans, ‘Maxima’ also offer cover to inpatient treatment expenses. The cover includes nursing, ICU, anaesthesia, room rent, operation theatre, diagnostic procedures, medicines, blood, oxygen or any device implanted during a surgical procedure. The coverage for pre-and post-hospitalization expenses is also offered to an insured for certain number of days before and after the hospitalization. These expenses should be for the same cause for which the claim for inpatient coverage has been accepted. In case of prior intimation, the number of days for the coverage can be increased.
With the aim to offer complete health cover, there is coverage for day-care procedures, domiciliary treatment, organ donor expenses, etc. The plan also offers cover to maternity expenses in an event of new born baby. This coverage is subject to the condition that one gets the cover only after the waiting period of 4 years. It means that only after the elapse of this time period of 4 years, one can avail the maternity coverage. This cover works on the principle of benefit that pays insured lump sum money, depending upon the condition whether the delivery is normal or caesarean.
